Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE)

These books were aimed at psychiatrists preparing for the old MRCPsych Part 1 OSCE. Although these books focus on single standalone stations in general adult and old age psychiatry, these stations will still form the majority of stations in the new CASC exam. These books continue to be useful and are a good starting point for preparing for the CASC exam.

A practical guide for candidates preparing for the Observed Structured Clinical Examination of the MRCPsych. In Part 2 the skills tested in the different OSCE 'stations' that a candidate might meet are explored. This is backed up by the accompanying CD-ROM, where interactive video footage allows prospective candidates to experience 'virtual' OSCE stations and test their performance.
Verdict: Useful for general adult and old age psychiatry stations. Contains sample conversations between clinicians and patients/carers. CD-ROM contains sample stations.
